Edrica - original score & live mixed media performance

‘To be aware of tone is to be master of your material.’ Edrica Huws

Perfformiad byw a cherddoriaeth wreiddiol newydd yn dathlu bywyd a gwaith y bardd a’r artist glytwaith Edrica Huws fel rhan o Ŵyl y Llais. Crëwyd animeiddiad newydd gan Tad Davies a pherfformiwyd y gwaith yng Nghanolfan y Mileniwm gan Gwenno, Georgia Ruth, ac Angharad Davies.

A new live score and performance commissioned by Festival of Voice in celebration of the life and work of poet and patchwork quilt artist Edrica Huws. With original animations by Tad Davies, ‘Edrica’ was performed at Wales Millennium Centre by Gwenno, Georgia Ruth, and Angharad Davies.

The closing piece, ‘Celf yn blodeuo a dod ‘nol ô i Gymru’ / ‘International Art, home to Wales’, sees an animated version of Edrica morph into a version of 2018 Gwenno. Linked together by their shared creativity, as time spools and unspools around them, it is a remarkable and poignant moment with which to sum up what I can confidently describe as one of the most inspirational evenings that I’ve been to in a very long time. It would certainly be a great shame if Edrica was not performed again, and soon. - John Lavin review for Wales Arts Review

As a standalone performance intended to celebrate another artist, tonight was full of love and artistic respect. It was a real privilege to be able to experience the performance; a testament to the idea of one artist celebrating the work of another through their own eyes. - Jaydon Martin review for buzzmag.co.uk
